The Aeolian archipelago is located off the Messina coast in Italy. It is made up of 7 islands: Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli, and Vulcano.
Which is the best Aeolian island to stay on?

For me, Salina is far and away the best Aeolian Island to stay on. It offers a great mix of restaurants/bars and nature/tranquillity. It's got a very local feel, especially in the smaller villages of Malfa, Lenni and Pollara. Boat connections are good, and public buses make it easy to get around.

Aegadian Islands

Best Times: May - October

This island is characterised by towering cliffs and rolling hills, making it an ideal destination for those that enjoy rambling or hiking. The tallest peak is Pizzo dei Monaco – though it only reaches 278 metres above sea level, it still offers spectacular views out across the sea and to Sicily beyond.

Where are the egadi Islands?

Sicily is an island located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is the largest island in the Mediterranean. Politically, Sicily and the smaller islands surrounding it are considered an autonomous region of Italy. Which coast of Sicily is best?

Some of the best beaches in Sicily are to be found south of Syracuse, at Vendicari Nature Reserve and around the point on the south coast, where seemingly endless stretches of sand follow the coast through Pozzallo, Marina di Modica, Sampieri, Donnalucata, Marina di Ragusa and Punta Secca.

East Sicily

Best Times: May - October

Western Sicily has the best beaches. Eastern Sicily has the prettier towns (particularly in the south east corners, such as Noto). The Valley of the Temples is best visited on a western Sicily itinerary, but can be visited on a two-week eastern Sicily itinerary.

This journey will bring you to several of our favourite things to do in Sicily: the crazy fish market in Catania; sunbathing on the rocks in Ortigia; exploration of several honey-hued baroque towns; Roman amphitheatres and Greek temples; wild and not-so-wild beaches on the south-east coast; Montalbano locations and several UNESCO World Heritage sights; a bunch of amazing foodie stops; time on Europe's most active volcano.

West Sicily

Best Times: May - October

Sicily's windswept western coast has beckoned invaders for millennia. Its richly stocked fishing grounds, hilltop vineyards and coastal saltpans were coveted by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Normans, all of whom influenced the region's landscape and culture. Even the English left their mark, with 18th-century entrepreneurs lured here and made rich by one of the world's most famous sweet wines, marsala.

Pantelleria

Best Times: May - October

In Italy in addition to the two main islands there are many other small islands a must visit. One of the most particular is Pantelleria the largest of the smaller islands of Sicily. Here you can find out where this island is and also know what to do and see in this tourist resort. In particular, you will discover the most beautiful beaches of the island of Pantelleria. You will also know where you can stay during your holiday in this Sicilian island.
Finally you will discover the recipes and typical dishes of this territory.

Lampedusa

Best Times: May - October

The Island of Lampedusa is made of limestone and has a landscape with deep cuts, valleys from an ancient river network that is no longer active: the Vallone Profondo (Deep), della Forbice (Scissors), dell'Acqua, Dragut and Terranova.

The beauty of the crystal clear waters of Pelagie Islands, their essential landscape, their depths with the tropical fauna, an amazing variety of fishes: groupers and mackerels, parrotfishes and triggerfishes.

Lampedusa, together with Linosa and Lampione composes the Pelagie archipelago,  from the Greek name Pelaghiè – Islands of the high seas, shards of African land, emerged from the Mediterranean Sea.
